Privacy Policy
Effective September 12, 2026 · Marboot is published by Raha Labs LLC
Marboot connects mosques with the people who follow them. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
Information you give us
- No account required. You can use Marboot as a guest — browse mosques, follow them, pin events and set reminders — without giving us your name or email. Creating an account simply keeps your setup when you switch devices.
- Account details. If you create an account: an email address and password, or your Google or Apple account, to sign in. You may optionally add your first and last name.
- Your choices in the app. The mosques you follow, notification preferences, pinned events, event reminders and display preferences — stored so they work across your devices.
- Feedback. Messages you send through the in-app contact form.
Information handled on your device
- Location. Used on your device to sort nearby mosques and events by distance and to point the qibla compass. One exception: when you pick a mosque for a home-screen widget, your approximate location is sent to our server for that one request so it can list the nearest mosques. It is used only to answer that request and is never stored.
- Calendar. Only touched when you choose to add an event to your calendar.
- Photos. Only for mosque administrators who choose a flyer image to import events from. The image is processed to extract event details.
- Appearance settings such as color theme stay on your device.
Push notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a device push token so mosques you follow can reach you with prayer-time changes, events and announcements. Delivery uses Apple, Google and Expo notification services. You can turn notifications off per mosque in the app or entirely in your device settings.
Home-screen widgets
If you add a Marboot widget to your home screen, it fetches the chosen mosque's prayer times from our server — about once a day, and again when that mosque changes its times. To send that refresh, the widget registers a device token together with the mosques it shows, the same kind of token used for notifications. The registration is updated when you change or remove the widget, and removed when you delete your account. Widgets work without an account.
What mosque administrators can see
When you follow a mosque, that mosque's administrators see their follower count and, at most, an abbreviated display name — your first name and last initial, if you added a name to your account. They never see your email address, your location, your other followed mosques, or any other activity. Administrators cannot edit your account in any way; the only action available to them is removing a follower from their list, which notifies you.
Services we rely on
Marboot runs on Google Firebase (authentication, database and cloud functions) and uses Expo's notification service to deliver pushes. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We use no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Account → Delete my account, or Mosque Settings → Delete my account for administrators). Deletion removes your account, follows, preferences, pins, reminders and device tokens. If you signed in with Apple, deleting also revokes Marboot's access to your Apple account, so nothing is left connected on Apple's side. Content a mosque administration published to its community (schedules, events, announcements) belongs to the mosque and remains.
Children
Marboot is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note the new effective date above.
